Great Pyramids of Giza

The oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Pyramids of Giza are the very reason alot of people come to Egypt, and seeing them close-up never disappoints.

Constructed over a 20 year period concluding around 2560BC, the pyramids of Cairo was the tallest man-made structure for over 3,800 years, to this day we still do not know for sure exactly how they were built, although there are many theories.

During the Cairo tour we will give you much more information on the amazing Pyramids of Giza, and any questions you may have will be gladly answered by your Egyptologist tour guide.

The Sphinx

After you have seen the pyramids of Cairo, your next stop will be the Sphinx. The Great Sphinx of Giza is a mythological creature, formed of a lions body and a human head.

Standing over 73metres long and 20metres high, the The Great Sphinx of Giza is the oldest known monumental sculpture, and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom in the reign of the pharaoh Khafra.

During the tour of Cairo, you will find out how the nose of the Sphinx was broken off by Napololeon's soldiers, which can still be seen today.

Lunch on the Nile

Next up is a break for some lunch on the Nile, this will be a large buffet with foods to cater for all, before going to visit the world-renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiquities.

Museum of Egyptian Antiquities

Built in neo-classical style, designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon the museum exceed 120000 masterpieces ranges from pre-dynastic era, Pharaonic era to the Greco-roman period in Egypt and includes the treasures of the child King Tutankhamen, Pharaonic Gods and Goddess.

Well worth the price and the travel

We got picked up around 1am on a small bus and was took to a coach which was very comfy considering it was full. Thankfully there was also a toilet and comfort stops where to could get yourself a cup of tea. Take plenty to drink with you espeically water and a pillow and blank for comfort and warmth.

Remember to get your visa stamped - we almost nearly didn't get throught but thankfully the guide on the bus sorted the situation

Firstly went to the Cairo Museum which was been done up at the time and was bit dissapointing as you also werent allowed your camera (the tour guide took your camera from you and put in lockers which we got back after our tour of the musuem)

Secondly went a boat trip down the nile which cost an additional £10 but was worth it. Went for lunch after but you have to pay for your drinks but didnt starv, was plenty to eat

Then went to see how the pyrios pictures were made - this is pricey shop but haggle and its worth it

Then we went to the pyramids, apart from the hassel of children/people who were trying to sell things it was fab. Our tour quide Mia was great. Just to stand metres from the pyramids was amazing! Need to oay £10 per person for a horse or camel to be able to see the stunning view of the 3 pyramids togther. The guy who drove our horse and cart demeanded a tip for taking some photos so please be aware!

We then finally went to the oil shop where a wee talk was given and then tried to get you to buy some oils. Ended up with a sore head with all the smells. At this point our group was tired and wanted to go home it was something we could have skipped in all honestly

Mia our tour guide was great. Can't thank you enough it made cairo all the more intersting. Thanks alot.

Well worth being stuck on a bus for nearly 7 hours there and 7 hours back.

Cairo Tour by Bus from Sharm 1 Day Excursion
My boyfriend and I booked 5 trips with Sharm Excursion and all went really well and were pretty much as expected. The trip to Cairo was one of my favorites, aside from the long bus ride. We were picked up around 1:30am and rode for 5.5hr on a big charter bus, stopping once for a break. Once we arrived in Cairo we had a great english guide to take us around the Egyptian Antiquities museum. From there we took a short ride down the Nile (worth the extra money) to where we had lunch (buffet, ok not great). Then we drove to Giza and went around the Pyramids and Sphinx and we had the option to take Camel rides and had plenty of time to take great photos. Our last stop was a Bedouin perfume shop which was awesome. Then the long ride home, arriving about 12:30am or so. Overall, a very worthwhile trip, especially for the price! (Don't forget to bring toilet paper for on the bus and in Cairo, it seems to be absent in most public toilets!)

Cairo Tour by Bus from Sharm 1 Day Excursion
booked this trip before leaving uk and dont regret it. It was half the price of the tour operators identical trip. Although a long day it was well worth it. picked up at 01.30 from our hotel and arrived in Cairo about 8.30. First stop was the Egyptian museum where our guide Maya provided an excellent history to the relics we saw. Lunch on the Nile was followed by a visit to a papyrus institute then on to the pyramids then to a perfume factory. The whole day was informative, interesting and fun. Maya was faultless and even helped take the amusing pictures at the pyramids knowing the best places to stand to kiss the sphynx, stand on top of a pyramid etc. The whole day was memorable. Please do not hesitate to book with this company, we enjoyed 2 trips with them and an airport pickup to hotel and couldnt fault their attention to detail reliability and quality of their guides.

Cairo Tour by Bus from Sharm 1 Day Excursion
The pick up was slightly late and in a small bus with cramped seats and dodgy suspension. We were given no explanation that we were being taken to a central location to move onto a LARGE COMFORTABLE AIR CONDITIONED COACH. This, then had temporary failure of air conditioning due to low water levels. Despite that and being charged for the toilet when we stopped it was a GREAT DAY with pretty good guides who kept us safe, well informed and were very attentive. A trip on the nile was an extra treat at minimal cost. Thoroughly glad we made the trip and lucky we slept on route. If you do not travel well on coaches it is a long journey (6hrs each way) but great to see Egypt life by night and city life by day ! Be prepared for the baking sun out in the desert though !
