Ras Mohammed By Bus Snorkelling Trip Gallery
What's at Ras Mohammed
Ras Mohammed park marks the transition of the shallow Gulf of Suez , to the deep intercontinental Gulf of Aqaba, a small portion of the Grift Valley that stretches deep into Africa.
Although not massive in size, Ras Mohammed contains an astounding variety of wildlife, including gazelles of the northern desert and brilliant orange coral reefs.
The boundaries of Ras Mohammed extend far out into the surrounding waters, and even the most casual of visitors is struck by how much of the park is dominated by the sea. Even the dry land area of the park seems a part of the marine world: in the north, large dunes are interspersed with outcroppings of Miocene limestone in which are embedded an astonishing wealth and variety of marine fossils. In fact, the dramatic promontory that marks the Sinai's southernmost tip belongs in part to the sea, as it is in fact an enormous, fossilized coral reef, left high and dry tens of thousands of years ago.
For many visitors, Ras Mohammed's most stunning scenery is found underwater, in the broad, terraced coral reefs that encircle the peninsula. Fire corals and brilliant sea fans abound here, and among these lush reef corals roams a truly magnificent array of both reef and pelagic fish--over a thousand species in all.

Ras Mohammed By Bus Snorkelling Trip

Booked 5 trips with sharm excursions and all were fantastic but this was our least favourite. Firstly we were not informed that we would need to hire our snorkelling gear so had to pay £10 each. So bring your own as they are not provided. The views before we get to beach were not spectacular just baren ground. The sea was cold but fine once we got in but that is to be expected at end of December. We were supposed to have a guide in water with us but he was too busy dealing with a couple who were very panicky and after waiting ages to get started me and my husband dicided to try and go out ourselves as my husband has snorkelled before. Views underwater was amassing with lots of fish. From there we stayed in our wet clothes and was driven to next sight of clear river and mangrove trees. From there we walked over to an amassing site of ground which had been split from volcanic eruption. And then had to go into the ice cold magic sea which was exilarating. Back in bus we were driven to another beach for more snorkelling but we just sunbathed and dried off instead as didn't want to be going back in dripping wet bathers as no where to change. Also unless you can leave your belongings with someone in your group to watch if they not going into sea don't take valuables with you as we had no choice but to leave everything on bus and had some money go missing.
