Private Cairo Tour from Sharm El Sheikh

In our opinion seeing Cairo is a must for anyone visiting Egypt. On our 2 day private Cairo tour you'll see more of the City and it's magnificent Mosques, Bazaars, and fortresses as you spend the night in the magnificent City.

Why 2 Days?

You'll see the same amazing sights as on our 1 day private tour of Cairo on the first day, and then instead of having to go back to your hotel in Sharm you'll spend the night in Cairo city before seeing more magnificent sights the next day.

Day 1 of the Cairo Tour

Well pick you up from your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh and travel to Cairo in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach. When you arrive in the amazing city of Cairo, your first stop will be the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Cairo Tour to the Great Pyramid of Giza

The oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world and sadly the only one that still remains largely intact, the Pyramids of Giza are the very reason a lot of people come to Egypt, and seeing them close-up never disappoints.

Composed of over 2.3 million blocks of granite weighing 25 - 80 tonnes each and constructed over a 20 year period concluding around 2560BC, the pyramids of Cairo was the tallest man-made structure for over 3,800 years, to this day we still do not know for sure exactly these amazing structures were built, although there are many theories.

During the Cairo tour we will give you much more information on the amazing Pyramids of Giza, and any questions you may have will be gladly answered by your professional, friendly Egyptologist tour guide.

The Sphinx

After you have seen the pyramids of Cairo, your next stop will be the Sphinx. The Great Sphinx of Giza is a mythological creature, formed of a lions body and a human head.

Standing over 73metres long and 20metres high, the The Great Sphinx of Giza is the oldest known monumental sculpture, and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom in the reign of the pharaoh Khafra.

During your tour of Cairo, you will find out how the nose of the Sphinx was broken off by Napoleon's soldiers, which can still be seen today. There are also theories of kings actually being buried inside the Sphinx!

Lunch on the Nile

Next up is a break for a delicious lunch on the Nile, a large buffet with foods to cater for all tastes and ages. This is a great opportunity to relax and take in the sights and smells of bustling Cairo before going to visit the world-renowned Museum of Egyptian Antiquities.

Museum of Egyptian Antiquities

Inside this huge, world-famous museum you'll find some of the most important treasures from Ancient Egypt civilisation anywhere in the world, from Pharaonic antiques to the treasure found in the tomb of Egypt's best known King, Tutankhamen.

Spanning two floors, each section of the museum is dedicated to specific Kings, or time periods, even if you're not usually particularity into Egyptian history we find everybody finds it fascinating and a powerful experience to be so close to such historically important artefacts.

Built in neo-classical style, designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon the museum exceed 120,000 masterpieces ranges from pre-dynastic era, Pharaonic era to the Greco-roman period in Egypt and includes the treasures of the child King Tutankhamen, Pharaonic Gods and Goddess.

You can also visit the mummies room at the Egyptian Museum for a background about the Egyptian civilisation and the mummification art in ancient Egypt.

Shopping in the Bazaars of Cairo

After you have seen the pyramids, sphinx and other amazing sights that Cairo has to offer, you will have some free time for shopping in the world famous bazaars of Cairo - another big pull to tourists from all over the world.

Spend the Night in Cairo

After an action-packed day seeing the world famous sights of Cairo, you will be transferred to your comfortable hotel in the city centre of Cairo.

Day 2 of the Cairo Tour

On the second day, at about 9:00am we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cairo and make our way to the Citadel of Saladin, an amazing fortress built by King Saladin in 1170AD to protect the old city of Cairo. You can see the Citadel in the gallery below.

Citadel of Saladin Tour

The Saladin Citadel of Cairo is an imposing medieval Islamic fortress in Cairo, built upon a large hill between 1176 and 1183 CE, the citadel became the centre point of a wall to protect the medieval City of Cairo from the Crusaders.

Still used by Egyptian Government until the 19th century, the Citadel only stopped being the seat of government when Egypt's ruler Khedive Ismail moved to his newly built palace in the 1860s. On our guided tour of this magnificent fortress you'll see the original well built to supply the fortress numerous animal and human inhabitants. There are also many additions to the fortress over it's long history including Ottoman empire mosques, the Hall of justice and much more.

Stop for Lunch

Next we'll stop for a delicious buffet lunch in the centre of Cairo City, offering a large range of options to suit all tastes followed by an unforgettable walk through the sounds, sights and smells of the Khan El Khalili street.

Khan EL Khalili Bazaar

The bazaar district is one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike, here you'll find restaurants, coffee houses, famous mosques, universities, and plenty of shops!

Khan EL Khalili Bazaar has been described as one of the most interesting bazaars, not only in Egypt, but also in the whole Middle East. Originally the site of a mausoleum known as the saffron tomb, this was once the burial site for the Fatimid caliphs since 970 AD. At this time Egypt was being ravaged by the Black Death, however it continued to be the centre of great economic activity.

In the 14th century this cemetery was destroyed to make room for a large caravansary where merchants could sell there goods - all the bones from the buried royal family were simply thrown into the rubbish hills east of the city! By the 15th century the area around Khan el-Khalili had grown to become a major centre for foreign trade, the most important products on offer being precious stones and slaves.

In 1511 Khan el-Khalili was rebuilt to a style resembling Ottoman cities with large monumental gates and perpendicular streets which can be seen today.

Today Khan el-Khalili continues to be a massive area for trade, however we're glad to say you wont find any slaves on sales here any more, rather fantastic coffee shops selling authentic freh Arabic coffee and stalls selling souveniers, antiques, jewellery and much more.

By the end of your second day you will have experienced the real Cairo in depth and we will begin our return journey to back to Sharm el Sheikh by Bus.

Our 2-day excursion to Cairo by bus is a once in a life time experience we guarantee you will never forget, if you want to find out more click enquire now!

Cairo Tour from Sharm - 2 Day Excursion by Coach
After the unrest in Egypt 2 years ago Cairo especially has been a no go area for many tourists. I just want to say how wrong the press are. They are using scare mongering to stop people seeing an amazing city and not forgetting the pyramids at Giza. Sharm el Sheikh seems to be a popular destination for British holiday makers but they never venture outside of their holiday resort. I find it difficult to comprehend visiting Egypt and not going to The Pyramids ! Its like going to Orlando and not going to Disney world !
Anyway a little about our trip to Cairo. We opted to do a 2 day coach trip as to do Luxor and Cairo by plane would have been to expensive for our budget. After a long overnight 6 hour coach across land we arrived firstly at Cairo museum where we were split from the large coach we travelled there on into a much smaller group of 6. We then met our guide for the next 2 days. She introduced herself as "Lily" What we liked about her was she was concise in the information she gave us without bogging us down with loads of dates ect that we would never remember. Cairo museum was really interesting . Housing so many artifacts from the pyramids it was hard to see them all in the time allocated. Lily took us round the main exhibits then we were given about 30 minutes free time but as the museum is stretched across 3 floors was very hard to get round all of it. We were then taken by air conditioned mini bus towards the river where we met our optional boat trip up river to lunch ( £100 Egyptian each extra) but well worth it to take in some of the land marks . We arrived at a small riverside restaurant where we had an open buffet lunch which consisted of a varied choice. Here we met Mohamed the director of sharm excursions. A pleasant quick witted man. This extra personal touch was very welcome. He asked us how we were finding our experience of his company's service to which all of us agreed how excellent it all was. After lunch we went onto Giza and the pyramids. What a sight. A really jaw dropping experience the marvel of the structures and all the history was aw-expiring . We were given the option of a ride around the perimeter of the pyramids to take photos and also capture the alignment of the pyramids. This was an extra £100 Egyptian each and was done by either Camel. Horse and trap or horse drawn carriage. We chose the horse and trap. Again worth doing as you dont see the pyramids in alignment from the entrance side. We then took in the sights of the Sphinx and a walk down into one of the tombs. This i passed on as it was a very steep descent into the tomb and an even more strenuous climb back out. You dont see much anyway just an empty void . After 1 more stop at a perfumery our 1st day was done. We were the only couple to be on the 2 day trip so we were taken to our hotel b our guide where we had a fairly clean room for the night. This really wasnt much of an issue as when we opened the curtains in our room the view was of the great pyramid itself ! you really couldnt have asked for a better view. Our second day was a more relaxed afair. We were taken by Lily around Cairo town by mini bus . A whistle stop tour of the city center, including revolution square . We then headed uphill towards the citadel where we would stop and tour the magnificent Temple built there. Again an amazing structure where we were given some information by Lily on the mosque itself but also a quick explanation into the Muslim religion. Lily then gave us a few options on things we could do for the rest of the morning into the early afternoon until our coach left for Sharm el sheikh. She took us to a local eatery where we sampled some local cuisine and then walked round the market area before embarking on our trip back. We really couldn't of asked for a more personal service than what we got from both Mohamed and Lily our guide. One of the trips that will stick in my memory forever. Thankyou.

The journey in the coach was tiring, difficult to get to sleep with hindsight maybe flying would have been better. The tour guide showed us and explained in great detail what we were looking at.Extremely helpful in the Egyptian museum as there were too many exhibits to see and not know what they were. The guides explanations not only of the things we were seeing but also about Egyptian life both in the past and current was superb.Everything was as we expected.Glad we done the two day trip as there was a lot crammed into the first day.

I would just like to thank sharmexcursions.com for the best experience with a tour operator I have ever had! The Cairo by bus excursion was mindblowing, I learnt so much whilst on this trip and the guys who looked after us were perfect! We decided to go home with the rest of our group on the first night as we didn't fancy a second night in Cairo as I was feeling ill, our guide offered us a refund which we said we didn't want as we had decided to cancel our second night ourselves, roughly 3 hours on our way back to Sharm our guide came to us on the coach and said he'd organised us a camel ride and bedouin tea with stargazing included instaed of our refund!!! Absolutely first class service from absolute first class people who work for a first class company!!! An excellent day in Cairo made perfect by this company!!! Thanks sharmexcursions.com!!!

Hi, I am planning a 1 day trip to Cairo. I am British passport holder and I will get visa for sharm on arrival. Do I need to apply for Egypt visa before travelling to Cairo or I can get it on arrival to Cairo.

Regarding the Egyptian Visa : You must get the Egyptian visa before you leave your country or upon your arrival at Sharm airport if you will go on one or more of these excursions : Cairo by bus or Plane , Luxor by plane , Ras Mohamed by bus , Ras Mohamed By Boat , Diving trip in Ras Mohamed, but all other excursions you do not need this visa . If you need this visa you will get it from the bank at the arrival hall upon your arrival at Sharm airport the cost per person only 10 GBP. Then you will put this visa stamp and go to passport control , it takes about 10 minutes , then across to the place where you will get your luggage and after that you will leave to your hotel .
